The follow up to 2022’s “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II” comes out this Friday, Nov. 10, marking the 22nd entry in the mainline series of games that first launched 20 years ago in 2003.
Available for pre-order for $69.99 at Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart and Target, “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III” for PS5, Xbox Series X, PS4 and Xbox One is a first-person shooter that’s the third installment in the reboot “Modern Warfare” series. Not to be mistaken for “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3” from 2011.

“Modern Warfare III” finds Task Force 141, a multi-national special operations unit, on the hunt for Russian ultranationalist and terrorist named Vladimir Makarov, who is planning to start World War III.

The game features 16 base maps from previous installments, while there’s a special Zombie Mode (a first in a “Call of Duty” game) that’s open world. In addition, players can pick “Open Combat Missions” that are open world, along with linear missions that are on rails. Of course, “Modern Warfare III” offers online multiplayer with up to 24 players per squad.
Meanwhile, if you’re coming from “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II,” you can forward your inventory from that game to the new one with ease. This comes in handy if you don’t want to re-collect or upgrade your equipment and weapons from scratch.

There are two versions of the game available: Standard and Cross-Gen. The Standard Edition just includes the game, while the Cross-Gen Edition includes the game itself and five (out of nine) different content packs — including early access, locations, missions, characters and more.
In the meantime, “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III” is available across consoles and priced at $69.99. It’s available for pre-order at Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart and Target now. You can also watch a trailer for the game below.
